Maria C. Hernandez, born in the Dominican Republic, raised in New York and now a resident of Richmond a Virginia. Maria attended PACE University and received a degree in business administration which lead her to work at travelers insurance company for over 10 years as an accountant.

 

In 19940, Maria proceeded to enhance her knowledge and obtain an insurance agent license in property and casualty where then she established her own business Manny Insurance Agency in New York.

 

In 2004, Maria moved to Richmond VA, where she started working at catholic charities as a Community and School liaison helping bridge the gap and the needs in the Hispanic community. 

 

She partners with many organization which focuses on advocacy and community outreach including Richmond police department where she has volunteered with for the past 11 years involving and recruiting adults and youth in their programs.

 

Presently Maria works with Richmond Public Schools as a Bilingual Parent Liaison providing assistance and education to newcomers about the US school system.

 

Maria C. Hernandez joined HASA in 2012, in December 2017 she was promoted to Vice-President after serving 4 years as a volunteer and two years as the Fundraiser Director. Mrs. Hernandez has upheld her responsibility in the organization with the highest expectation serving as the liaison between the community and the organization.
